This poster and card set compliments the books in Auntie April's Walking on Country series. This set of 12 cards gives educators a starting point for learning about plants indigenous to Victoria. April has chosen plants that are important to her. She encourages us to be curious and learn more about plants that are indigenous to the Country we live on and then Countries that are close by.
About the Author:
April is a Gunditjmara Kirrae-Whurrong woman and a proud mother of 3 children and 3 grandchildren. She has extensive experience working in Aboriginal Affairs across a wide range of sectors including Education, Justice, Children's services and Health. April has spent her whole working life creating and building programs that deliver change, promote healing, and provide opportunities for Aboriginal people to improve their life circumstances and their social and emotional wellbeing.
With over 20 years' experience in Aboriginal Education, April is passionate about the promotion and delivery of Koorie perspectives in all Education sectors across the Victorian State. She believes that creating resources for children in their younger years, will ensure an early start in the sharing of Koorie perspectives and knowledge, which enrich all of society.
About the Artist:
Brett Cardwell from Cardytoons is a Melbourne based Cartoonist and Animator who is passionate about storytelling and has provided school workshops around Australia and beyond for over 25 years.
