These tiny bowls are around 15cm in diameter and are available as an assorted mix of 6 baskets which includes traditional black and earthy tones, and bright color patterns. These traditional baskets are hand-woven by basket weavers in the AfriBeads Women’s Association in Uganda. They are made using a traditional African coiled weaving technique from raffia palm tightly woven around a core of banana leaf stem. The patterns each represent an element of traditional African culture. The baskets are traditionally given in Uganda as gifts on special occasions and these small bowls can be used for storing loose parts, beads, or a range of other small items.

IMPACT:

At AfriBeads, every purchase directly supports a collective of 30 Ugandan women artisans, providing them with a sustainable income and the means to uplift their families and communities. By crafting beautiful, handmade products from recycled and natural materials, these women gain financial independence, enabling them to feed their families, send their children to school, and foster community development.

AfriBeads is proud to be an endorsed Fair Trader of Australia, committed to ethical practices and the empowerment of women through fair trade. Your support helps break the cycle of poverty and creates lasting change..

Please be aware that colours, patterns and sizes may all vary slightly as these are individually hand crafted. All baskets will have the name of the craftsperson that made it on the tag and each person has their own style of weaving.
